The History of Sedona-Bell Rock Kiwanis Kiwanis of Sedona- Bell Rock is a combination of two clubs, Kiwanis of Sedona and Kiwanis of Bell Rock. Bell Rock Kiwanis was founded in 1981 by _____ and _____, the first club President and Vice President; although the original charter had over 28? members who were vital to the club's growth and success. Among their first service projects was the construction of the visitor parking area and path located at Bell Rock. This path was conceived, constructed, and maintained by Kiwanis members for many years. Today's club still contributes to cleaning and maintaining the site. One of their largest and most lasting projects was the construction of Kiwanis Park, in the center of the Village of Oak Creek. This great family park, with play equipment, basketball court, barbeques and palladium was constructed with funds and labor contributed by Kiwanis of Bell Rock. Many local businesses contributed materials as well, and the park is certainly one the club can be proud of. The local Kiwanis Clubs were essential to the building of Camp Kiwanis, a regional project in New Mexico. Camp Kiwanis provides a fun safe outdoor camping environment to children suffering from a variety of disabilities. This facility was built with donations and man-power contributed by regional Kiwanis Clubs, but Bell Rock received special recognition for both monetary contributions and labor. For many years, through Bell Rock Kiwanis, local doctor ______ conducted a program to vaccinate needy children. The money for these projects was raised through a variety of innovative sources, that changed somewhat through the years, along with the skills and interests of the membership. Bell Rock Kiwanis was long known for ______, who made home made candy and sold it on weekends outside of Weber's IGA. Kiwanis also hosted a huge flea market in the parking lot of the IGA. Golf tournaments and wine tastings were popular fund raisers. And so were raffles, with items such as golf carts, and bicycles among the top prizes. Today the primary fundraiser for Sedona Bell Rock is a banquet and silent auction, first established in 1998?.
